Irrigation for Riyadh Landscaping, Saudi Arabia |
The 2,800 ha of landscaped areas scattered over the city of Riyadh (84,000 ha) consist mainly of median and border strips of expressways, interchanges and roads, and public parks and gardens. To water these areas, tertiary-treated sewage effluent has been distributed into four pressure pipe systems, of 200 to 1,400 mm.

The pipe systems totals 250 km, with adequate turnouts for irrigation, including one pumping stations of 3.5 m³/s and three others of 1.5 m³/s each.
Spray and drip irrigation was chosen on the basis of capital and maintenance costs and intensity of planting
