We provided detailed design and supervision of construction for two chiller buildings (plant) housing the chilled water generation equipment and related electrical substations, serving the air-conditioning systems of the Holy Haram and the surrounding residential/commercial development.

The plant houses:

  • 42 centrifugal, radiator water-cooled chillers each with a capacity of 1,850 TR
  • Pumps for the circulation and distribution of chilled water and condenser water
  • 110 kV electrical main substation of 120 MVA capacity with MV motor starters, step-down transformers, and motor control centres
  • Water storage tanks (2 x 30,000 m³)
  • 1,500 m long district cooling network run in underground utility tunnel housing 4 chilled water pipe mains of 1,500 mm diameter each
  • Central control room, workshops, storage spaces and offices for the operators and maintenance staff.
